Default Photomax in New Zealand .

I went to a seminar and left halfway through when they mentioned NZ$3500 . They have contacted me a few times telling me what a great opportunity it is to be able to be an agent in a multi billion dollar industry just waiting to explode , and how honoured they would be if I attended a full seminar and parted with my money . Something about sending photos and getting paid when ever someone joins-for-free to store 3000 photos free on the site and be able to order cheap prints which will be about half the going price , along with DVD's made of wedding pictures etc. etc. .
Can anyone advise me on this subject ? Should I part with my last savings to go into this business opportunity where , I am told , you can earn more than your normal sallary working 6 hours a week ? They say they want 500 people in NZ as agents before they bring in a printer , but I say " if it is such an amazing business why should I have to pay them to advertise for them and do their dirty work ?"

I know nothing about this company but want to give my opinion, for whatever it may be worth.

Part of what they are saying is more than likely true. Someone can and will make more than a normal salary by working only 6 hours each week. But, it probably will not be the person who puts in the last of their savings. Be careful about these types of money making opportunities. The ones who will be making the most money are the ones who will not invest any of their own money in this business. They rely on other people to invest.

I had someone telling me about this great chance to make money buying and reselling artworks. After investigating I found a great number of people complaining about having a garage full of art they had purchased to resell to new hotels/motels. The could not get rid of it and had lost money. More research found the CEO of this company had been in trouble before and had been shut down pitching these get-rich-quick schemes. Oh yeah, this guy happened to be the one who got rich. Him and his top management. The people in the trenches are the ones wanting to sell some art at a greatly reduced price.

Again, only my opinion.

I appreciate any opinion , I will probably tell the person trying to get me into the scheme that I will go for it if I can pay the $3500 out of the profits I am so convincingly going to make .

Hi, I know that this maybe to late as I look at the date on which your post was made but I think that others maybe interested in my comments.

I am a Photomax Distributor and I truly believe in the product, services and company behind it and its future. However, it is a business that you will need to work at like any business and like any TRUE business it should continue to work for you when you are not there, or are only putting 6 hours a week into it. I am always looking for new people to join my team, but I would not ask someone to put there last bit of savings into any venture unless they are truly committed to working hard to make something happen. I would also not take on someone that I feel does not have the capability to make Photomax work or doing so would cause financial strain.

If you do not have the time, energy or commitment to do Photomax then I would say go for it because it is a great opportunity.

If anyone would like to know more about Photomax check out my site -

If you are going to be working for them as a salesperson / representative, why on earth should you pay them for the privilege? I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

Cheers/Mike

Exactly my thoughts , the company needed something like 500 people hooked up to the scheme to be able to bring a printer into New Zealand so people can order prints online at NZ.30c a print [ about US.20c] . But since then many places are offering the same rates now . I was approached because of my interest in photography and would be interested in the idea of people clicking on the link when I send pictures and then getting a percentage of the profits when they buy something , but I am not interested in recruiting more people and having to pay $3500 to do it for the company , they should pay me first . In any case , there is no way I will upload all my pictures to a site and email them from that site so people can find the link I would have to be permanently connected and it would cost me after so many megabytes to do so .

I'm glad to see that my reply has sparked more discussion.

To answer a couple of the comments...You do not work for photomax, you work for yourself and pay for the right to use their services, products and technologies in a similar way as to buying into a franchise, however this is one of the sweetest deals that you would ever find.

In regards to bring a printer to New Zealand that is not the case. To facilitate all the services and products that are required to have Photomax in NZ, alliances need to be formed with established organisations. For Photomax USA to commit to arranging all this in NZ they require a commitment from NZ that their are people here wanting the service. Photomax will be offering more than just prints, such as photobooks and highly professional Photo DVDs. The cost of prints is not really going to be an issue because this is not the main revenue stream and so what ever pricing structure is currently the norm in NZ Photomax will at lest match or beat. In fact people who sign up for accounts other than the Free 5GB account will be given Free prints each month.

As I mentioned above this is a business that you will need to work at and if you are not committed to working it, it will not happen. Running a business is not for everyone and I choose people that I believe this will work for. If they do not want to be involved in it as a business then I recommend that they try the service because the future of storage is not on paper, CD-Roms or DVDs but the internet.
