I was contacted by the local University (former employer) who I do quite a bit of work for, they want me to shoot their Christmas card. Now this darn Christmas Card is always a HUGE HUGE HUGE production for the wife of the President and she is EXTREMELY involved and EXTREMELY particular.
How she wanted the shot was to take a picture of the band with the cheerleaders in the grandstands.... during the 3 to 4 minutes between 1st and 2nd quarter. I have NO idea as to why it has to be during that 3 to 4 minutes, but that is what she wants. Also do to the layout of the stadium, I would have to be standing on the track which is below the grandstand with a huge railing in the foreground. I turned down the request, with the explaination that it would be impossible to have a quality image of 40 to 50 people from that vantage point in that time allowance. (It would be professional suicide.) Well they called back today and advised that they would allow me to stage the photograph in the morning (same location and vantage point) as well as some field shots. Then they also want me to do the shots between 1st and 2nd quarter. I have a meeting today to discuss things more in depth at 4:00 PM MT and would like to have some input/suggestions. Also I am not sure how I want to go about charging for this. My normal rate is $50.00 per hour... I am going to have to work at least 1 to 2 hours in the morning and then be there again in the afternoon for the picture between quarters. But I also have to consider that this is disrupting my entire day and I have to drive 25 miles in and spend the whole time away from other projects. I know there will be a break of an hour or two between when I have to be there for shooting... but it really makes NO sense to drive back out 25 miles and back in 25 miles. __________________

Ever try to herd and pose 40-50 people by yourself? I'd pay $50/hr NOT to do it. That's not enough money for what you need to do, imo.
