I'm just starting to sell photos and make posters, etc. When I make a poster or collage, what's the best size to make it. I've made some 11x14 as well as 13x19. The only problem is that when someone tries to order, they can't always crop to the size they'd like. Is there standards for something like this or do you create it to a particular size and if the customer wants a different size, you make it special.
Thanks Rich __________________

I usually download a file that is big enough to crop to the desired size for the intended image. Some can be as large as 20 x 30. Most are no larger than 16 x 20.
There are no standards. You've got to learn what the public likes about your pictures and then give them what they want. This takes a bit of time. If a customer is having difficulty with my smugmug site (rarely), then I hope they contact me and I will take care of them personnaly. Good luck Lee The Images of Lee Fortier - powered by SmugMug |

There is no good answer because you can't guess what size someone will order. However, you can zero out the prices on all sizes that don't fit your crop and that will force the customer to only order the sizes you price.
