Printing images on matte photo paper, what would one charge for a print in these sizes?

$25 for an 11x14 or 11x17 |

I have a lot of photos processed out of house and use my R2400 to print in-house. It depends on the client. One has to be competitive and, at the same time, realistic. You don't want to under sell or over price. You need to determine what your market will bear.
There is a lot of competition and one needs be smart and savvy. |

My prices are line line with Mark's though for an upcoming event I'll be locked in to another's pricing just to move product. Not too bad though because a matted and framed 8x10 will sale for $60 in this market quickly.
A lot of times though the market is the primary driver and one has to determine what the market will bear. Mark's market does not blink an eye at his prices. Put him in Chattanooga or Knoxville and some may hesitate or even speak up. His prices are cheap for LA, Vegas and other high priced markets. Take care, |

I understand. What the "market will bear", as you have stated, is the crux. It is individual as to community and geographic area. You can't sell a million dollar print in Pago Pago for a million dollars. Perhaps in New York or LA? You have to do your homework and adjust.

Julio,
WHCC is my primary lab. Although I have printed a few peices for clients on the Epson 9600, I can't get over the metamarizm issue. TonyK and Crotographer....your right on the money. |

I can try to raise it to 20, and see what happens. People are complaining at 10 bucks! LOL! And the complaints only come from this podunk town I live in. When I get a client out of Atlanta, they say "10 bucks, awesome!!" So the market is bad AND good. So not sure what to do other than obviously getting better paying clients (which I have done a lot of here lately). I also had to raise my package prices. I lost some potential low paying clients, but big deal, I dont want the 500 dollar brides. Me, my wife and my daughter have to eat somehow! Luckily she is a nurse and makes all the money anyway!

I only print three sizes, all on my Epson 7800:
11" x 17" - $35 13" x 19" - $50 24" x 36" - $150 I sometimes print special sizes like 18" x 24" for my clients that I have had for several years but those are usually part of a service based agreement and not priced separately. Similar goes for 4" x 6" prints that I do in batches that cost me $.12 or less and I charge $1 ... but again, this is only for ongoing customers, usually in multiples of 100 and involves payment for the taking the images in the first place. The thing I always urge is to set high prices and then create a discounted "package". What you usually want is to maximize your gross and the net will take care of itself. |
