I want to get a website up for myself for portfolio and promotional purposes, but I really want to keep the focus of the site really just on my shots.
I however want to include other things. Maybe a bio, pricing fees, etc. So I guess what I want to ask is does anyone have any ideas of what I can add? Any websites that you can show that might get my wheels turning? Or any thoughts over all? Thanks for the help in advance. *note: if you are interested in what kind of pictures I am going to be putting up: it will be select pictures from my Pic-a-day blog broken up in categories* __________________

Webdesign is much easier than people think it is.
I maintain several photographic and wedding based websites for associations as well as my own two business websites. All of them were designed from templates. Do a Google search for Free Website Templates. These are completely pre-designed, downloadable for FREE. To edit them, simply open the photos or buttons in Photoshop, add your own info or photos, then resave using the same file name. Open the Index page, and WALAH!!! You now have a website. You'll still need an editor to launch it. I use Microsoft FrontPage...extremely easy to use. |

I'm in the midst of building one generlly for the same purpose. It was an easy choice to hire a designer and builder to get it done because it's 1 less thing for me to learn/do. I'm keeping my energy focussed on new pix for it.

I would suggest you cruise by dynamic drive. Lots of code snippets you can just cut and paste into your webpage. They have a very good range of slideshows and thumbnail popup add ons.

I had the same trouble at first. I cannot say that my site is adequate in any way, but you can check it out to get some ideas. I just finished making it yesterday haha!

Excellent work with the site. Mine is going to be dumbed down some. I want to just focus on the work. Over the past couple of weeks of working on it I decided to keep it simple. Any info someone needs they can contact me on it. Thanks for the advice though. |
