I do get the point of the cartoon but the very first line "I'm an Artist" is perhaps the biggest problem.
When you start doing this for money, your first a "business person". Your art is just the product/service you sell. That's it!
I agree with Charles Lewis who says:
"We are NOT photographers. We are marketers and sellers of photographic services."
Kind of take that artist thing out of the equation doesn't it? But he is right. The "art" is just the product/service we provide. Don't claim that just because your are an artist that you SHOULD be paid. Like another wrote, some, ON THEIR OWN, give away their art.
Yes, I do understand a lot of people want you to do some work for them in exchange for credit or "exposure" (that one cracks me up) or whatever. As I said, these are just not your customers. Turn them away. It's really that simple.
