Default Real World Corrobration

I was reading an article in a business magazine dealing with franchises and I ran across a discussion of a photography franchisor company which concentrates on group photography (ie: sports teams, youth groups etc). I'm not spamming, so I won't name the franchisor organization.

Here's the line I found interesting:

"Franchisees usually hire photographers so they can concentrate on sales and marketing".

I'm not in the business and have no such ambitions, but it appears to me that this insight into an ongoing business model confirms the advice I''ve read on this board a thousand times.

I think you'll find all businesses are more interested in sales and marketing than the actual product or service they put out. Have you ever paid any attention to the difference in the burgers in the ads compared to the ones that are actually served? So you think the starched shirt, power tie weaning boys in the corner window offices of the fast burger corp. offices know what either look like?

I've been watching "Undercover Boss" on TV. I think the one issue this show drives home is, the people in business administration are clueless about what the company they operate really is all about. Doesn't one P&L sheet pretty much look the same as another (numbers left of the decimal excepted)

Steve
