Photo adventures

This is my second ever Blog! First is to do with my musical adventures, this one will track my photographic learning - I hope.
Just before Christmas I treated myself to a new DSLR camera -Nikon D3100. I am having great fun learning how to use it. So far I have experimented with Aperture priority, great for close-up work and Shutter priority. This seems to be good for action shots. I must get used to reading the display at the bottom of the view-finder so that I can adjust the settings when the meter indicates over/under exposure. Could explain why I had some rather dark shots recently.....
My current themes are Animal portraits, flower close-ups, water, light and textures. Should be enough to keep me going for a while!!!!
