HDR

Posted 07-09-2008 at 12:51 PM by Dances With Tripods

I've recently discovered HDR software, specifically PhotoMatix. I'm loving it! I'm sure I have a lot to learn about it, but this is one of my first attempts.

This is a photo of Superstition Mountain, as seen from Bulldog Canyon in Arizona.

The Indoor Gardening Has Taken our Household by Storm

Posted 06-28-2008 at 01:17 PM by drAnn (drAnn's Photo Blog)

After much research I decided to experiment with some fast-growing heat-resistant Asian vegetable greens, and of course, my favorite pot-herb, Purslane, which, in the AeroGardens sprouts with 2 little leaves in less than 24-hours. The mustardy, choi, spinachy seeds take a bit longer to come up, but by the second day their little heads are peeking through, not with leaves open yet like the purslane or basil, but they are coming along, and should be ready to munch on in well under a month.

Posted 06-22-2008 at 07:53 AM by Ockie

Walked around in Málaga today a bit, practicing and getting to know the 5D.
Here are some of the results:

Came across some sort of an Easter procession, perhaps they were practicing?

negative scans pt 2

Posted 06-16-2008 at 11:38 AM by Ockie

Some more neg scans, shot with either a Nikon F-501 (MF) + 50mm 1.8 E-series or on a Canon AE-1 + 50mm F1.4. Film used: Ilford HP5 @800, Delta 400 @1600 and Delta 400.
I edited one of the shots on photoshop, lets see if you can notice which one.
I haven't shot any film since these scans, so the next entry will most-likely be with shots from my "new" (2nd hand) 5D. I'm back to studying algebra now, 4 days left and I'm done with my june exams.

Photography School

Posted 06-14-2008 at 03:20 PM by JNicoleSharp

You might think photography is a hobby, but to me it's my life and career. I know you might not believe me by looking at my ameture photographs. I want to take a course, some sort of course, but I never commit to anything. One year, 22,900 dollars, one degree. That's the scariest number I've ever seen. I never want to be that much in the debt, save for when I purchase my house. I'm afraid I'll never be able to pay it all back soon enough. How does one transition from being an ameture, to a professional,...

negative scans pt 1

Posted 06-14-2008 at 10:48 AM by Ockie

First entry I'm posting using Windows Live Writer. Lets see how "easy" it makes it... at least it seems I won't have to upload each image separately...
I finally got the negatives scanned. Here are some old ones from end of February, taken in Barcelona:

A Micro-Mini Hydroponic Planter

Posted 06-11-2008 at 01:12 AM by drAnn (drAnn's Photo Blog)

Here is a 6" x 6" x 3" hydroponic planter I made by tearing a table top fountain apart that we found on sale. I was disappointed when the local garden shop did not have any hydroponic planters, so I made my own.

I cut three holes in a flexible cutting mat for the platform, which serves two purposes: 1) it keeps the plants from falling into the water, and 2) it shades the water in the base to discourage...
