Get ready for USB 3.0. Long in development, the successor to the popular USB 2.0 standard boasts greatly improved data transfer speeds and bi-directionality - meaning that data can be both sent and received simultaneously. The first USB 3.0 devices were unveiled at the recent Intel Developer Conference (IDF) in San Francisco. USB 3.0 will be backward compatible with USB 2.0.
