Just a little something for comment. Have not done too much conversion, I would be very happy to get some critique and advice.
Thanks Wayne __________________

Hi Wayne
As far as the conversion is concerned I find it to be a wee bit flat(dull) looking. I think a slight curve adjustment to bring up the mid-tones and then a wee bit more contrast would give the image a little more pop overall. Although I find the log interesting and an adequate focal point, I find this composition a little too in-your-face. Perhaps in the future you could position the camera further back with the log (or similar) more favoring one side or the other within the frame. Lovely background scenery here. |

Or look up the stump - use that as a lead in to something behind it - if there is something interresting.

Featherman, thanks for commenting. I see what you mean about the in your face. I also thought the photo a bit flat, and will try as you suggested.
Norm, The only thing that attracted me was the shape of the log, and the mountains behind. The other angles didn't give me what I was looking for, as the mountains were not visible from the vantage point. I do understand what you were saying however, Thanks. |

Wayne, the main lines slope upwards to the right and are not quite counter balanced by the tree line in the middle distance, hence I find the composition somewhat awkward. That said, the image is alive with lots of movement and as Gord says, it could use some added contrast.

Pandora, Thanks for commenting. Definately see the contrast problem, and the hills in these locations can make shot composition a real pain. I really appreciate that you feel the shot is alive. I will work on the contrast. Wayne
