Default Yet another wall...

Ok so I uploaded a B&W (or an attempt of one) the other day and got some great feedback. Several people mentioned that the the composition was a bit forced. Looking through some other pictures I took I ran across this one.

I like Rense's contrast but I would shift the ring to the left so that it's on the 'third' and the leading lines are coming from the bottom LH corner.

Aren't I just the bluff old traditionalist!

I did try that, but in order to get the full effect you need to level the wall and if you do that the shadow is cut off.

So when composing the photo I had that same issue. On the other side of the ring there is a large tree that just would not let the picture work. I had hoped that while it was not optimal placement that it was better to grab the shot.

Completely agree on the contrast. If I had to pick I would pick Rense's version. The compositional problem is still there but the picture is full. The added contrast makes it jump out MUCH more then mine did. Comparing the two I now see mine as flat.

Thank you very much for the lesson. I will no go and try to recreate it.
