This was taken on my last day in Japan, on a miserable, rainy day. I hope you like it, but I welcome any criticism

Beautiful image.
Try cropping off the bottom of the frame up to about where the mountain reflection ends. That should bring the 'weight' down lower and give a more balanced feel to the frame. (After all, Buddhism is all about balance, isn't it? ;o) |

Thank you for the feedback and for the cropping suggestion. I had tried that cropping awhile back, but didn't like the look of the reflection...no foliage, just the trunks of the trees. But that was awhile back. I'll have another try at that crop.

Try a crop so that all the reflected lateral branches are removed. (You can take a quick look by simply scrolling the page.)
I find those laterals at the bottom of the frame distracting - a bit too busy for such a serene scene. (Of course with any good image there's probably several valid versions.) |

thanks again for the input. I will hold off on a tighter crop for awhile. I like to come back to an image after about a week so I can look at it with relatively fresh eyes. I don't want the island to bee too close to the bottom of the frame, but I appreciate BobTrips' comment about the lateral branches. You have a valid point
This photo was my first post and I am already glad I joined this group. |

I like the way everything is spaced in the original shot the photographer took. Cropping is personal preference but some beg to be corrected. I fail to see how cropping this image will make it better.
Very nice image. I love the peacefulness about it. G |

I wouldn't crop because I like the spacing... maybe play with a linear style gradient fill to lessen the strength of the foreground reflections

Looks good. Too small to judge sharpness
