I have a colour idea in mind that I have to see if I can make work the way I have it envisioned, but I just shot this tonight for something to do. It is my "almost 5" year old's hands.

I think I would almost like it more high key than it is, but I haven't decided. I'm not actually sure if I even like it at all or if I'm only partial to it because it is my son's hands and I think he's spiffy no matter what.

Well, that is one impartial yes. Thank you. It actually was a difficult picture to get. His little brother was trying to "help", and he was wanting to run around like a ninny, and the egg was still raw so I was nervous I'd end up with it all over the place. I'm never sure if the pictures I take that I like are because I like the subject, because it took so much work to get it, or because it is actually an ok picture.

Thank you very much. We just got done dying eggs a minute ago and so when they are dry I'll try it with a coloured one. I'd love to do it with Tiernan holding them, but he's in a throwing phase and I'm afraid he'd just chuck the thing at the camera.

My personal preference would have liked the hands a tad bit sharper, but I really like the story one can conjure up with the hands of a small child carefully holding the fragile egg. I also just like the overall composition to this. I like that this was done in b/w. Good one, Sara!

Thank you everyone! I tried to get my 2 year old to hold them so I could get a picture since his hands are much smaller than his big brother's, but he just wanted to throw them. Maybe I'll have to just get a picture of his feet with a broken egg on them.

Martin - coming from you, the god of black and white, I am thrilled for the compliment, thank you.

ohenry, one thing I stink at really is sharpening. I just don't really know how to do it best. I play around with it and it may look ok to me, but I honestly have no idea how best to do it. I tried getting an action to sharpen, but that made me even more confused...it used lots of different layers and I got quite lost. : I think it would probably help if all I knew about PS wasn't just what I've taught myself by playing with it. I'm glad you liked it anyway.
