Default X Marks the Spot

Taken in the west end of Toronto in an area aptly named "The Junction". Once a heavily industrialized working class area, this neighborhood is now undergoing a transformation of gentrification. Many many years ago, my dad had a retail store in this area so as a youngster I spent a lot of time here.

My most vivid recollections of the Junction as a youngster are those of a grimy, sooty cityscape with railway cars, factories and smoke stacks. Now over 40 years later, many of the factories are gone or relocated, many of the railway tracks abandoned like a fading legacy, replaced by cappuccino bars, spas and boutiques.

Note: I'm not a big fan of b&w grain but for these images I found it suitable to try and give these an archival look.

Hi Steve

can I say that I think these are just outstanding. The first shot being my fave of the set.I think they have a quality about them thats hard to put into words. All you can say is they look "right" to the eye and really grab the attention and keep it there.A VERY fine set of mono shots indeed and wonderful to look at.

love the crossing photo SteveZ. The grain helps indeed with these kind of images.
