Thought I'd throw this one out and see how you folks feel about it.
Thanks for looking, Don __________________

I also believe that it's too dark...

HI FTO and anglesfort, This was taken during a performance and there was one dim blue sport from top right to work with. I thought the silhouette/light/shadow thing would be interesting. I couldn't go longer due to the right side ballerina's shoulder would have been blown out. I had a couple of passes like this and exposed for her shoulder. The rest came along for the ride. The only thing I did was crop dead space L&R, cloned out some reflective junk spots on the floor, toned down non-informational areas and converted.
The final file before down sizing and converting to JPG prints very well with more information on the left dancer's rear leg and a reflection of her front foot on the floor. Thanks for looking and commenting, Don |

the shot certainly had great potential... In my opinion (and I'm no expert, by any stretch of the imagination) if there had been just a tad more light on the girls, so you could see all of them better... it would have been much better. The shadows and the highlighted sections are what gives it the most interest, so I wouldn't want to see a LOT of light brought in though...
again, just my opinion. I can definitely see where you were trying to go with it... |

If you haven't yet, consider duplicating the Background and experimenting with blend modes like screen and color dodge, overall opacity and using a layer mask for selective application of the higher contrast. I found the results took a very good image up several notches.

Thanks Russ. It prints lovely and sort of ghostly.
