#1 has a special feel about it that #2 does not. I thnk the advert in 2 takes away from it.

Wonderful capture of the texture of those old hands.
This may sound a little strange, but, I particularly like the importance of the shadow area in the bottom right portion of the first shot.

I agree with all the comments. I like how you've captured the details but they don't look overly sharpened. I would be interested in how you did that.

Paul, I think that this is due to B&W conversion, which "underlined" all those wrinkles.

I really like both as they seem to display both an intense(#1) and relaxed mood(#2). Additionally I also see the ad in #2 a wee bit distracting. Overall, I enjoyed them.
