Lightbulb Sept B&W Challenge Assignment - Food

Okay, don't want this to be really easy, but don't want it to be so hard no one tries. The subject for this B&W challenge/assignment is FOOD....

Now, you can't just go take a piece of bread, throw it on the counter, and take a picture in B&W, or convert to B&W. Well, you can, but it will be pretty boring, and gray, and not appetizing. So work it. Think, try. Find some food, that has color, shape, texture, all those, and work the scene with the B&W mode in mind.

I know there will be some that are awesome if the creative mind is used. There will be others that a pretty good and look good and don't turn you off of the food. We can do this.... right?

Not a still life, but an environmental portrait of a chef cooking food at the Mongolie Grill in Whistler, Canada.

And a still life of coffee.

It just struck me as interesting... but not the part of the food that you would normally eat...

Clare, your submissions are artistic to the max, and Mr Pickles, your picture of the webbing looks amazing and like you said, interesting.

My illustrations for my favorite recipes look tasty in color, but experiments trying to make prepared food look yummy in BW works only if you like the way pig slop looks.
I opted to make raw food conversions and like the way these look.

Some more good examples, but the jar one is really nice.

I suspect you like pickle pictures more than the average guy.
