Default Library

Trying to push myself to photograph more than just people, although, they are very interesting. This is the old library in our town.

Nice conversion truly an old brick building.
too bad the stop sign and the fire hydrant is in the wrong place.
Otherwise would have looked much better.

I debated on that stop sign. Didn't know if it added or detracted. I can see how it detracts.

Nice shot Kelly and Love the conversion. I do agree that sign is distracting only because it doesn't pertain to the building at all. It does kind of lead the eye toward the building however The sky looks really good, did you use a polarizer?

I like the exposure and the conversion.
The stop sign is a tough one. I think it might have worked better in the opposite direction where it could have stopped the eye from wandering if it had been placed at the edge of the frame.

Thanks for the kind comments.

Jay - no polarizer, just a really nice sky, and I used CS3 BW conversion to pull the blue down and the white up. Very little dodging and burning. There was a very distracting object on top of the building, and I cloned it out. There were wires running all over the place, and I cloned them out. I was hoping that I didn't destroy the cloud structure in the process.

Cedric - as far as the exposure goes, I feel like I can't take much credit for that but owe it all to my Canon. I shot using f/22 (I think) and let the camera calculate with spot meter. I was thinking about you as I took this picture. So many people have commented on your ability to get the exposure right in so many places and I have often wondered what the secret is. I don't know what the zone exposure system is, I have only heard it referenced.

Thanks again for kind comments.
