A mean looking Harley . Is your D3 solely used for IR now? I'm not sure of how that works exactly.

Yes, the D30 is IR only now.

check out my blog and look for the last 2 installments of "IR for Beginners" and you will get a good description of shooting IR with a DSLR, both un-modded (factory) and modded, (IR Only).

too much to try to explain here.

thanks for the nice comment.

1st, any image with a Harley is a good image! I wonder how the mood of the image would change without the soft and dainty flowers in the background.

thanks all,

notsotechie,

the out-of-camera file has some color information, what-ever small amount of Visible light that the IR Pass filter allowed to reach the sensor. different sensors record differently as well, especially between brands, ie: Nikon or Canon, or others.

the white balance setting that was used has a great effect too. I usually like to use a custom white balance that I took off some green grass. with the CWB, my camera tends to give me a mono-chromatic image out of camera, not quite B&W.

Almost without exception, IR images that you see have been post processed, especially the false color images. PP becomes a great part of IR Shooter's individual look and style.

hope this helps as I don't have any un-processed images that I could hot link for you.
