A mean looking Harley
. Is your D3 solely used for IR now? I'm not sure of how that works exactly. |

Yes, the D30 is IR only now.
check out my blog and look for the last 2 installments of "IR for Beginners" and you will get a good description of shooting IR with a DSLR, both un-modded (factory) and modded, (IR Only). too much to try to explain here. thanks for the nice comment. |

1st, any image with a Harley is a good image! I wonder how the mood of the image would change without the soft and dainty flowers in the background.

thanks all,
notsotechie, the out-of-camera file has some color information, what-ever small amount of Visible light that the IR Pass filter allowed to reach the sensor. different sensors record differently as well, especially between brands, ie: Nikon or Canon, or others. the white balance setting that was used has a great effect too. I usually like to use a custom white balance that I took off some green grass. with the CWB, my camera tends to give me a mono-chromatic image out of camera, not quite B&W. Almost without exception, IR images that you see have been post processed, especially the false color images. PP becomes a great part of IR Shooter's individual look and style. hope this helps as I don't have any un-processed images that I could hot link for you. |
