Default Black & White in black & white

This is my first post with one of my photographs. I'm new to photography but I am hooked. Love my Nikon D80 and wanted some C&C on this photo. Thanks.

What wonders me is the lightrays coming from above on the left. Is that a lamppost light or something different.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that is light from the lightposts. I kind of like the effect of it. I wish the lightpost on the left was not there though.

Not a bad image. Nice composition to me. The light rays in the upper left don't bug me near as bad as the smudgy stuff along the lower left half of the image.

I agree with Mr. Pickles. The light rays aren't what caught my attention, it was all the smudging.

Was there a reason for that?
