Default First attempt at B&W

I've been lurking down here for the past 2 weeks or so and decided to give it a try.* * B&W is totally new to me so suggestions to improve would be great * I posted a few of these before and somebody suggested black and white.* I think it was a good suggestion.* 1 thought I had was they might need more contrast, but I lost detail so quick I tried to find a happy middle ground.

Jay,

I love number 1. The highlights against the shadows on the structure create some very awesome lines. The contrast of the object against the white clouds is also very striking.

Last one...I like the composition, just wishing the sky was brighter. I wonder if you can do a multiple exposure on it by increasing the highlights in Photoshop and layering it on top and use masks to bring out greater contrast.

Thanks Kelly The last 1 I actually darkend the sky a lot for the original color image. I have it isolated on it's own layer with the structure masked out. I'll try to lighten it up and repost Thanks for the comments/ critiques B&W is really growing on big time!!! Something about the simplicity I think??

Thanks again

Jay

1 More time

I lighted up the structure as well to try and recover a bit more detail

Thanks,

Jay

I'm liking this rendition much better. It is very foreboding and dramatic.
