Default Color to B & W

The before and after. I took my first shot at using layers. Here they are: background, Saturation, Gradient Overlay, Hue, Levels, background copy w/color. Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you. In my excited state to be doing such fun stuff I failed to make note of all of the particular settings as far as percentages of opacity etc. I used Photoshop Elements 2.0 and was following instructions provided by Michael Fulks off of the Apogee Photo Newsletter site which is located at:

http://www.apogeephoto.com/nov2006/mfulks112006.shtml

I tried a similar process in PaintShop Pro X but I haven't quite got the hang of the various nuances of that program. Don't tell my wife but I think I will be looking at going strickly to Photoshop next year.

Hi Mithras!

What a very strange but also very nice conversion! Almost looks like an old colour photo that looses it's colour-saturation and is fading to B+W, really like the effect, well done!

And as AlbertP mentionned: how did you do it/what did you do

...ah, you answered that while I was typing, thanks for the link, pity about the settings

...and... if you like Elements 2.0, you'll love Elements 5.0 (whole lot smoother in operation)

Thanks for sharing!

Kindest regards!
