This old beater was left on the trail in the woods near my home.

Hey!!!! You've been in my backyard
We have an old Dodge Panel Truck in our woods. The hippies that built our house drove it from Cali (still has the '78 Cali plates) to Upstat NY and dumped it there. Carpeted inside with wild colors. If those walls could talk......To your pics...... #1 is GREAT. I don't see anything that I would change. Your tones are right on. #2 seems a tad OOF (out of focus). Looking at it again, I am not sure if it is a cropped pic of the first or not. If it is it may be camera shake(CS). I notice this in a lot of my handheld work. What looks great at full frame or close to it looks "soft" when cropped. I think this is due to slight camera shake that is magnified when the image is cropped. In the conditions that you were shooting in, you probably had a longer exposure time that will show CS. I am learning that a tripod is my best friend in these situations. I do like the composition of this pic though. Thanks for sharing Mark |

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your comments. I notice that a lot of my photos have camera shake. I wish for steady hands! I should make a habit of taking the tripod with me, but this was an impulse photo and I didn't have it along. The second is a crop, but not of the first. I cropped a bit of greenery out on the left side. The original did look crisper too. I love the forgotten trucks and cars that you find in the woods. I'm sure that most have great stories to tell! Kindest regards, Renee |

Those last minute treks are often the ones that provide the best oportunity for a GREAT photo. I have a Lowepro camera backpack that I keep my gear in and it has a tripod sling that makes it easy to just grab and go. My bag goes with me everywhere (not always the tripod though. I am considering a monopod/hiking staff that was mentioned in the tripod/monopod section. It is telecoping and
has a hand ball that can be replaced with a photog head. I will see if I can find the link for you. Mark |
