Definitely invokes strong emotion and it tells a story.
My only nit would be the sign? to the right of the statue. Is seems like a flag for the landscaping service or something similar and just seems out of place. Of course the image is pretty noisy, but when I first looked at the picture, I didn't even notice it. I was just drawn into the photo. Personally, I'm not sure how I would feel taking photographs at a Cemetery but I think you this image is done very well. |

Thanks Kerbouchard, the sign or flag you see is a marker on the grave next to this one....does not have a stone so the little sign is placed there with the info on it....
I have taken 100s of photos in graveyards and found many interesting subjects. The art on the stones can be very nice and the statues you find are very interesting also. Some have little chapels or churches also.... |

Ok, I think I've seen those markers. Is it like a tin sign that has info stamped into it?
In any case, for me, the subject is the statue with the tombstone, so if I were offering critique, it would be to have stepped to the right, and shot a bit tighter to only get the tombstone and the statue. The pile of ? on the right doesn't really add to this photo because it isn't really distinguishable as anything. Or at least I can't recognize it. I've learned that the thing with photos is, if you have to explain what something is, the photo isn't as successful as it could have been. In any case, like I said, I like your shot and it definitely moved me. Nicely done. |

I like the shot but agree that the clutter on the right side takes a lot away from it. I would suggest a square crop, you would have to clone out a small bit of the sign to keep the boys foot but I think it would make it a wall hanger!

Good job on both the revision and the 1st image.
