This is a Tasmanian Little Wattlebird that I caught today on a protea bush at the end of my driveway. I was just stepping into my car with my camera when I heard it squawk - then I got lucky! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________

That Oly is doing a fine job for you there Mark. I must say though that the Wattlebird reminds me a bit of the Starlings that we have around here, though Starlings are much darker I think. Great shots!

Thanks Ken. As a graphic designer I really like the natural harmony in design between the Protea and the Wattlebird. Note how the Protea's elongated eliptical pink bracts repeat the shape of the Wattlebird's folded wing feathers. There's an interesting article by Denis Wilson on the anatomy of the Protea flower that will interest an inquiring macroscopic mind such as yours, Ken.
