We were camping on Oak Creek, in Page Springs AZ the past week and these are some of many shots I caught of the Great Blue Heron. There were also Mallards, Wood Ducks, Humming Birds, Oriels, Grackles and many others.

Yep, but the first one was the greatest challenge.
To catch him through the break in the trees, as he flew up the creek was not easy. Most of the time he flew so low over the creek, was visible for such a short time it was impossible. This shot was the only one where he flew high enough to catch him between the trees. |

Both very nice shots and I appreciate the way you got that flying shot. But yeah, I gotta agree with Randy on that one RJ, they just camera shy them critters!

Yep, agree with Randy also, if I had a nickle for every time I was just about to press the shutter and a bird ruined my plans, would be a lot richer.
![]() This bird flew up and down the river for several hours, before I caught this one.... There was only a place about 25 feet wide where there was a chance of catching him. Sometimes got tired of waiting for him to come by, had the camera aimed elsewhere when he went past. __________________
