Default Crappy lens, good composition

I was walking in fairmont park the other day and saw this goose (I guess). Anyway I have never seen this kind of goose before and it seems he had 2 wives. I know he is not a canadian goose but it seems that he has mated with them. He was swimming in front of the rest of the family and fighting other male malards in the area to keep them away from the canadians and chicks.

Does anyone know what kind of bird he is and do you think he was cross breeding with the canadians?

Anyway both shots with my crappy 75-300mm lens. I need to get a sharp long lens.

Like em both. The green water reflection really makes the subject that much brighter.

That is a domestic African Goose. Very protective, but I don't think they crossbreed with Candians.

Love nbr 2. A little more depth of field would be welcome, but as you say - good composition!

btw - your 'crappy' 75-300mm lens. What brand are you using? I had a similar focal length zoom on a Canon and it was indeed crappy. A good lens makes a hell of a difference!

I sold my Canon 75-300 IS USM as well. It was not what I expected. The 70-200 f/4 serves me better. Nice shots.
