Default Walking on water

Came across this eagle, looked like he was walking on water. Not the best conditions, overcast and shooting into a setting sun. Not as sharp as I would like. Can't decide on which one is the best

yup, pretty early in the morning. hard to pass up shots like these.
Your profile or sidebar says editing ok so I took the liberty of working a bit on one of the images. I am sure others could do better But I cropped iy, adjusted the white balance to 5000, brought up the hilights and shadows a bit and sharpened it perhaps a little to much.
Again, my apologies if I should have asked first.

Nice series Bob. I think distance is probably the biggest hurdle. Don't ask how I know.

Hey Greg, I had already did a significant crop on the photo. I think your crop loses to much resolution. Otherwise the exposure and sharpening adjustments work

Bill, yes distance was an issue but I can't walk on water to get closer so I took what opportunity I was given.

Nice set. I would say #2 is best of the set.

No offense meant Bob, You got some really good shots. Any idea of the distance you were working with?

I get frustrated a lot with distance as well and end up shooting out of desperation even though I know it won't be good enough. Like you, I gotta try! Hey, it's good practice for when we do get that perfect opportunity.

No offense taken Greg. Its all good. I was shooting with my D90 which is 12 megapixel so to heavy of a crop and it really degrades the photo. Not to good at judging distance but would guess between 150 to 200 ft.
