Thanks everyone. Hoping to get some more practice in. Headed to the shore of North Carolina next week so hoping for some larger targets. Be there for a few weeks so should get some time in shooting(not to mention the eclipse). Need to start working on BIF tracking as well

How does the lens perform at 600? Curious. Id like a long lens for wildlife photography. Id like to go in the woods and stay on stand for a day and get pictures of whatever I see in my range. Not sure how successful the mission would be, but we all know sometimes the trip is more enjoyable than the destination.

Andrew all three were taken at 600mm (minor crop). Using it on a Nikon D90 an older camera but I'd say it performs well. Of course I don't have any other 600mm lens to compare to but I am pleased so far

Bob I think you will enjoy that lens very much. I had the version 1 of it for a couple of years and really took some great photos with it. If I bought another it would be the v2. Enjoy.
