wow that is for sure a closeup... nice color on him... ours in Wisconsin don't have so much color on them...

@280mm!? How'd you manage that one!
Very nicely done ... very accommodating heron!

After a second look, it would be nice if the tip of the beak wasn't right at the edge of the frame. With that nice oof background, you could shift the head to the right and drop a background extension on the left side without much trouble.

Maybe something like this?

Thanks zemlin, that makes it look much better. I didn't have a lot of time to compose as after I startled it, it landed on a handrail (where I snapped that photo) and then it increased it's distance quickly. Here it is as it flew away.....
