Default Some new ones to identify as well.

Some from the weekend and before that I am having a hard time to identify. All shot in the Ottawa Ontario area.

1. From the weekend, really dark colour on this duck.

2. Guessing a fly catcher

3. This one was near the one above..guessing the male and female.

Nice shots Owen. Not sure about the ID of the duck but assuming it is wild, American Black Duck is a possibility

Nice shots Owen. The 1st looks like a juvenile hooded merganser Lophodytes cucullatus. I'll work on the other two shots

Can't find anything Owen, maybe someone over that side of the pond could help or you could try www.birdforum.net/ in the Bird Identification Q&A forum as they are always very helpful

Owen

I agree the first is an immature hoodie. On viewing the second set I immediately think Tanager because the Male is red/orange and female is yellow but the beak looks wrong.

How about helping me with this one? Taken at Sodwana Bay on the east coast of South Africa. This may be a sunbird nest but the nestling is not a sunbird.

I think the birds in question are very ratty looking immature Balitmore Orioles.
