Default Getting frustrated

I know these are not as sharp as they could and should be, I am shooting in poor weather conditions with poor light, maybe i should wait for the light, but i am so eager to shoot the birds.
This of course means slow shutter speeds, but i know things will improve when the weather breaks.
Anyhow i wanted to practice my processing trying to eliminate any BG noise and make the image more presentable at the same time.
Tomorrow i go to Plantasia where there some exotic birds i hope to capture, i just hope i get a few decent ones.

Blue Tit

Jackdaw

Poor thing

Best regards Paul

What gear are you using? The shots aren't bad considering the weather you descibe. More light would make a difference. Good luck with the next shoot.

Thanks Jnicklin for the reply and comments, we have had awful weather over the last few days, torrential rain and thunder storms.
All my equipment is Olympus, and for these shot i use my Zuiko 70 to 300mm lens on my E-520 camera.
I just can't wait for better light.

Best regards Paul

They aren't bad for the conditions, Paul. Whilst the 70-300 is a great lens, it's not well-suited to poor light conditions... especially, if you have it racked out. Your first two are not bad at all. But, you can tell that by the time you got to number 3, the weather had deteriorated.

I sometimes cheat when removing BG noise. I get a blur brush and blur the heck out of it while keeping the image real sharp.

An Oly user, I use an E3, had it in Africa last month with the 70-300 that you use. The lens is pretty good, but the DoF is pretty thin, especially at the max zoom setting, you really need to use f8 or f11 to get the required focus depth.

Strive on.

I've just downloaded the free version of 'Neat Image' and so far I'm impressed with it for removing noise. My Pentax K10 is notoriously noisy at higher ISO and last night I played around with a ISO 1600 sunset shot that looked really grainy and it came out useable, and it's easy enough to use and not a huge download.

Neat Image - best noise reduction for digital cameras and scanners

I know what you mean about the weather, it's the same here, very grey and flat.
Your blue tit cheered me up though.

Thanks Gary, there is a saying that "patience is a virtue", i certainly haven't got it as far as bird photography goes, and really i should have but perhaps its down to over eagerness on my part.

Best regards Paul

Thanks Lloydy for the reply.
I did try Neat Image before and i found that Noise Ninja was slightly better, but i will give it another shot to see how good it can clear any of my noisy images.

Best regards Paul
