Default Show us your skin smoothing

We have all seen loads of pics with different amounts of skin smoothing ,
some look like they are over the top and made to look like plastic, while overs look
as if they have a tiny amount done to them and of course theres the ones that are in between the both.
Why not show us some of your before and afters and share your processing skills with us .
Thanks to all that join in on this.

I tend to only use the healing brush on pimply teenagers .
For this, I used a gaussian filter in another layer and gently touched it in in places.

Thanks,
David

I use the same NR technique as I did in this work flow post: http://www.photocamel.com/forum/imag...ts-images.html. The only difference is that I set the TLR Pro Mask Script to create a surface mask for "skin" tones. It does a really good job of locating them, and once the alpha channel is created, you can edit it to your preference. You can add precision to this by flattening the layer mask after running the NR filter, and then adding a new layer mask set to conceal by either clicking Layer > Layer Mask > Hide all, or alt-click the layer mask icon. Then you can go in with a soft, low opacity brush and paint in the amount of smoothing without worrying about the edges so much, since they are already protected with the first mask.

My contribution. I took this back in 2004 at Lake Tahoe. Self portrait.

as shot with lightroom color adjustments applied:

Smoothed out:

My work flow process was pretty simple and combines several techniques. A lot of the stuff I picked up from Jfracno's Product shoot tutorial.

1st I made basic color adjustments in Lightroom then I imported into Photoshop in 16bit mode as a PSD file.

Next I duplicated the layer and fixed all the blemish's booger's ect...

Then I brightened my eyes a bit.

I then merged the layer down and duplicated the merged layer.

Next I rain Picture code Noise ninja and profiled the image. Set all the filter power to 6.
I then masked out the areas I didn't want to effect with the Ninja.

Merged down the layer, then duplicated again.

Applied some sharpening 100, radius of 1, threshold of 2. Then made a mask hiding all of the sharpening. Next I painted around my eyes and mouth to sharpen just those areas as needed.

Thats pretty much it, but this was a very simple image to fix in my opinion. Also I relied on noise Ninja to do most of the skin smoothing. Works pretty good too!!

This whole process took me about 5-10 minutes.

Jay

Ok, I'll play too.
Dupe original layer and adjust levels/curves. (your choice)
Dupe layer and remove blemishes with healing brush, clone stamp, a little dodge here and a little burn there.
Dupe layer and enhance eyes.
Dupe layer, lasso the face just inside the hairline, Filter/ surface blur, (radius 15, threshold 30 is a good starting point, but the idea is to apply just enough to smooth the skin without blurring the eyes.) Apply mask, set paintbrush to black and paint in the eyes, lips and maybe nostrils.
Adjust blend mode to suit. Usually about 40-50% is enough to bring back some skin texture.
Job done.

Here's a sample of what I did recently. Used CS2, worked in layers, added lashes, smoothed skin, changed background.
