Default Acropolis

So I have seen hundreds of photos of the Acropolis. I sat for a good 30 minutes trying to figure out a new way to shoot it. Then I remembered a post regarding flare and the selective placement of the sun. I had to wait a little longer to get the sun right but here is the results. Please C&C. Really what I would like to know is did this use of limited flare work to make the overall shot unique?

I agree. I actually managed to get rid of some of it in PP. It is not a great pic but just something to pass the time.

Nice that you put some thought into it to try to find something that you don't see commonly.

With such an historical building, it would be easy to just shoot the standard touristic photo and move on. So congrats on taking the time to appreciate the building and surroundings.

On the issue of the scaffolding, whether it's a good part of the shot or not depends on what you are trying to convey.

From this angle of shooting there is a sense of the dominance and age of the building.

In some respects, the presence of the scaffolding also conveys an important message because it shows how Greece is working hard to preserve, what is not only a national monument, but also an internationally significant ruin. The scaffolding is just one other state in the history of this building and if you look back at some of the old images of the Acropolis (even back into calotypes and daguerrotypes from the 1800's) they also show scaffolding.

So perhaps the presence of the scaffolding is important in the the history of the building and it adds to the image rather than taking away from it.

Regards,

Peter
