St. Marys church in Woburn.
Read further details. http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/BDF/Woburn/ The old church of St. Mary the Virgin, in Bedford street, rebuilt by Richard Hobbs, last abbot of Woburn, was pulled down in 1868, and a mortuary chapel erected on its site with the materials, but the tower remains : this is an embattled structure of two stages, standing at distance of six yards from the site of the north aisle of the former church, and is about 92 feet in height, with pinnacles at the angles and an open cupola, with a cross and vane; the tower was built or rebuilt in the 17th century by Sir Francis Staunton knt. with the material of the parish church at Birchmore, and it was again rebuilt in 1830 by John, 6th Duke of Bedford K.G. under the direction of Mr. E. Blore, and contains 8 good bells, two of which were given by the 9th Duke; four were recast in 1663 and a fifth in 1724: in the mortuary chapel are memorials to Sir F. Staunton and Elizabeth, his wife, 1630, and others to the Kay family, removed from the old church. __________________

A nice looking church. I'd say the blue sky and somewhat the grass is a bit over saturated. Toning the blue down a bit should make this a more attractive image. Maybe lighten the church a bit. You got a good image to work with here though.

Not sure where I took this one. I seem to recall that it was in Kent with my trusty Canon S1.This was before I devolped a system for cataloging my shots.

A very lo-cost Tin Tabernacle from The Iron Bridge museum. So many chances to take pictures, but sadly I was on toddler patrol looking after my youngsters. I will be going back someday and until then I am content with virtual tours

Love the wooden boards. We don't have many churches of the type here in the UK.looks very peaceful and a nice area.If it were converted into an house it would look very grand, but sad. Looks to be in good order. No peeling paint.
Nice capture, have you any more ? If this is the McMinnville in Oregan, you can read about the area here; McMinnville is known for its picturesque vineyards that dot the foothills. Located in Yamhill County, the oldest county in Oregon, McMinnville is often compared to the wine regions of France and Germany. Yamhill County is blessed with a long, moderate growing season which has proved ideal for growing such grapes as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and White Riesling. The Yamhill County Wineries Association offers a free map and guide to the local wineries. http://www.el.com/to/mcminnville/ ukwanderer |

This church is still in use today. Ancestors of my husband helped found the church and are buried there. I got this pic when we were there for a family reunion in June. My husband and I went to college about 25 miles from here, and we now live about one hour's drive away. It is a very beautiful part of the country. This church sits up on a hill and has a lovely view of the surrounding area. I would love to go back for better pics.
I'm hoping to get some pictures of an historical church just down the road from here. I think the weather is cooperating today, so when I take my son out grocery shopping, we may drive by. Thanks for looking and commenting! Elaine |

This is the Anglican cathedral (there is also a Catholic cathedral less than a mile from this). Work started around 100 years ago and it's now mostly finished. It's an enormous church as these things go but you don't really get the scale of it until you're standing right beside it.
