Default Country Town Building

This is a building in Narrogin, a Western Australia country town about 250 kms inland from where I live on the coast. I was fascinated by the facade of the building. No idea when it was built.

I went hunting Joan.

Probably built around 1890 or somewhere near there. That's around the period when the area became a town and was built up, so being on a corner, it was probably built as a pub...hehe (one on every corner).

But whenever it was actually built, all I want to know is why don't we buold them like that anymore? The arches in the facade and curved face around the corner is so typical of buildings in Australia for that period, and it is so good to look at.

I share your fascination for it and it reminds me of buildings you can find in country towns right across Australia.

Have some K for this one.

Regards,

Peter

thanks guys for the comments - I'll see if there is a historical society in Narrogin and try to get more information. It is such a neat & tidy building - lawyers occupy it at the moment.
