Brick Kingdom
The King Block and the Crystal Lake Falls Historic District are on the National Register of Historic Places. This covers several blocks of the village.[9]Harnessing power from the falls from Crystal Lake, factories clustered along Water Street. These manufactured piano works, furniture, ladies cotton lingerie and baseball bats. Some of these dated to the 1790s. These mostly closed by the the 1940s, with the last leaving in 1952. Ok easier to put that up... but this place is really not the safest place to walk around.. and worries me , if kids are around.. lot of old equipment still around, 4 or 5 waterfalls right by buildings, no fencing.. holes in ground, loose bricks etc etc... I don't think in my opinion this place should even be open for people to walk around.. but have really never seen anyone there ?Ok here ya go ... ![]() ![]() This Hydrant was actually 6 ft. High.. I think because of all the snow , it was built up like this so it could be found... To this day , in winter metal posts are placed next to hydrants so they can be found in winter.. ![]() ![]() __________________

This must have been a busy place in its hey day! Each picture is very nostalgic and provokes allot of thought about the businesses and people who worked there. Thanks for sharing a slice of Vermont History.

Laycey, that's exactly what I was wondering... I wonder what this place was like back when it was first built / used... it does make you think back in time...

Tom,
Places like that peek my interest and I could spend days there just snooping around!! Would that be a fun day to collect a couple of friends/photogs and have an informal competition. Set up some wild catigories and let everyone have a ball. Maybe a little barbaque and the end of the day to cap things off!! Thanks for posting these my friend. I love your eye on things and the way you view the world. I am looking forward to meeting you and Mel some day!!! I know Laycey feels the same way ! Since you are moving to Tenn. that may happen sooner then later, We Hope!!! Take care of yourselves, PLEASE!!!! Dakota |

Very good color tones and crisp. The old building structure looks sound? Without seeing it personally, its kind of hard to tell. If the basic structure is sound, it would make some great "loft" apartments like Soho in NYC. Guess I'm a little to far away to really be concerned......
