This is a really cool shot It does seem a bit soft, but I imagine the camera my have been searching for a focus point?? A good rule of thumb for shots like this is to try and crop it so the verticals are vertical. Perhaps cropping out the blown out are on the top right as well.

Thank you both for the kind words and tips. Honestly, this was a throw-away shot. I was shooting a parade and just happened to look up. Of course, the noon sun was in the wrong place.

And since this is confession time, I admit I was copying an idea from a photographer friend of mine, who did it better!!!
