Went to the French Quarter yesterday with some friends... knowing that we would be having a couple cocktails, I thought it prudent to leave the big gun at home and bring the PnS. I always have fun with the thing as there is no pressure to get it "right..." the dark haunts of the Quarter make for some interesting exposures. The first was a 30th @ f3.5 and the second was a 125th F 3.0 iso100. the third one (last call) was 4 seconds with the camera turned 180 degrees during... the last is the obligitory post card. the Nikon Coolpix 995 produces some gory CA and it dosen't have the cool factor of a Zeiss Contina, but hey, Other than that, it was a good day. Enjoy!

Ah one of my favorite places!! That first one looks wet to the touch, interesting textures. I have felt like the 3rd one
And good choice for mono on Preservation Hall, even sepia would work on that charm of a building. |

Thanks for the kind words, NOLA is home. That wet look is the well sealed brick wall entrance to Pat O'briens, first stop on the tour. The shot in this post is the "locals" bar at Pat O's. Probably not apropriate for the "Achitecture" theme in which I posted this but I do like the way texture and space is broken up by the angularity of the bar
so there!I checked your gallery link. I like the Memphis Bridge shot in particular. When Mud Island was first developed I worked for a media company that designed all of the multi media exhibitry for the museum. We traveled from Cairo to Venice (on the mississippi) and I lived in the Peabody while in town. Back then 35mm multi image slide shows using multiple projectors was all the rage. As an editor/programmer, I must have seen a million images of Memphis. Nice to see another take...that shot would have made the cut. Fo Sho, Jeff |

Jeff I have been in Memphis since 84. It is so good to see how much the downtown area has changed in the last ten years. There is a lot of construction going on since we opened the Red Birds stadium and the Fed-ex Forum. They are restoring a lot of the old buildings and turning them into condos, loft flats, etc. Take care.

Like the last two and the one posted later. They have a mood.
The 1st one looks a bit too sharp for my taste, but like the composition. I need to try something like that. Thanks for the inspiration. __________________
