Default Bursting water balloons !

I thought I would share my results from my new 'toy' , the sound activated flash trigger ! An air rifle makes enough noise to trigger the flash and I've wired it up with a solid state relay so if I have the mic too close it actually triggers so early I just see a hole through the balloon !

and as I move it further away I get to catch more of the action ....

Fantastic shots. Did you have the camera on bulb, with the flash as the only light source? Incredible looking images.

Thanks , the cameras was at F5.6 , iso 200 and 2 seconds for most of them . I fired the camera with the remote and then shot the balloon with the air rifle

Now I'm also curious, where were you? It's not exactly the kind of series you can do in your studio.

I had the D90 and 70-200 in the lounge pointing outside . The balloons were on a platform , at night , and I fired the camera with the remote which gave me 2 seconds to shoot the balloon ! There's quite a 'rubbery mess' outside .

This is the most FANTASTIC pics I have ever seen. They could be prize winners of National Geographic Society.

Thanks very much , that's the best compliment I have ever received They got rejected by the image library for under-exposure and blown highlights so I'm working on improving the lighting still

I tried a few with empty paint tins but they weren't too impressive ...

I call this one ' The dancer '

My first experiment was with a started solenoid 'bulb destroyer'
