Hello to everybody!
Here I post some scans of my old slides. After scanning I cleaned with "Polaroid Dust and Scratch Removal" software (thanks so to Spystyle for short but useful tutorial), then some retouching and sharpening. I am curious about the opinions how will they look like on Public as technical and of course as an expression with the image. I wonder how are the scanned images accepting on contests because they are a relative old one (a few decades age). __________________

I really like the first and last shots in the first set. What scanner are you using? Isn't it
great to resurrect two decades old film? One of the reasons I still love film. Curious to know what slide film these are. I've only shot one roll of Sensia 100 through an old Nikon F and hope to try some more in better weather, but I love the colors: ![]() I like processing the scans first in Bibble, then doing clone and spot removal in PS. Helli Zardoz, really nice from you. Yes, it is so nice to ressurect so old film and feeling is special! In times 20-25 years ago I've been using different slides and negatives as Orwo positive (which many times I was processing by myself with excellent results), some Kodaks - I really don't remember now which one. And I have scanned so many printed images from negatives too. I have HP 4070 scanner 2400dpi, with 35mm slides/negatives holder. Well it is not proffessional but I process scans later on Polaroid Dust Remover (I recommend you! and Photoshop CS3 or4. And yes, I cry for past analog times when always was in abeyance situation. Now digitals get more advanced solutions but we must upgrade our knowledge. I used Nikon software, there are so many softwares now, my opinion is all of them come from Photoshop. I shot with my new Nikon D40x and I need 90 or 100mm macro lense (even it is old MF) and some tele zoom. You encouraged me!
Your photo is so nice, I love drops on the grass leaves. |

Hi, zvonkopetroski! I had an HP Scanjet 4800 when I first got back into film. I like Epson
scanners and will probably upgrade to the V700 in couple of months. I will check on this Polaroid Dust Remover, but have to say that I try to scan a dust-free negative to minimize spot removal later. I usually scan all 35mm at 2400dpi and 120 medium format at 1200dpi. The above shot was with a manual focus-only lens, the Sigma 2.8/28 Mini-Wide that can close-focus to somewhere between 4-5 inches from subject, one of my faves. Most all my lenses are manual focus (only) and I use a lot of old Russian and German lenses, mostly M42 mount. Thank you for your kind words! Bill |

Hello again! I find this as very useful chatting.
Maybe it could be better if we're able on Skype in next times, what do you think? Ia must confess that my scanner is little slow when scans negs/slides especially in higher resolutions and that kills, particularly when you have a lot of stuff to do! Your choice Epson V700 is exellent as I know this scanner, I would buy one for me if I had money. Here You can see a review for it: EPSON V750 review just copy/paste at your internet browser. And it is for bigger transparents not only for 35mm! Even how much you clean them from dust it will not remove, so we still need Dust Remover, you will see. Hello M42 user! Film never dies! |

Hi, zvonkopetroski, I have a friend that owns the V750, and is quite happy with it. Yesterday Epsononline had the V700 with an instant $80 rebate making the sale price $469, but I have taxes coming up.
The Nikon Coolscan 9000 series would be nice, too, but that will have to wait, like next lifetime, lol. I don't have a Skype account, but look forward to seeing more of your film work!![]() here are a couple more slide shots, really need to buy more 35mm slide film: ![]() ![]() both of these taken with Nikon F with micro-nikkor 4/105 lens, Sensia 100 film Bill |

You have really nice pictures, Zardoz17, containing strong colors and composition. On mine opinion I can see good colors matching. And so successful scanning!
If you are able it is still my opinion that V700 or V750 is so great choice. In my country it is a hit in photography world. These portraits are token on window light and some soft pink curtain on the window without anything additional lighting. I just remember it was a slide stronger than 100ASA. The snow is token on early night and the seashore - on sunset of course. And - Practica PLC3, Zenit EM, 50mm f:1,8 and 90mm 2,8. This was early years, arround 77-80-ties. |

Hi Bill, The choice of Coolscan VED should give highest quality of scans and maybe you won't need additional retouching and similar stuffs. If you buy it, I'll fill up my cases of all my slides and negatives and come to your lab for a week or two, lol!
Thanks for your opinion about my portraits. But I see I have misaligned them in so big dimensions so they poop so great space. Never mind. I hope I'll see some more of your scans by the new scanner machine. I will look for some adapter for my lense 180mm f2,8 Karl Zeis Jena for Nikon mount even it will be tot. manual. |

Zvon, I need to do some reading up on the Nikon V ED, it has to do up to 6x9 negatives
or I will be going with the Epson V700. I have a 1937 Voigtlander Bessa RF (the all-black one) that shoots the 6x9 negs, plus (God help us lol) some 6x9 box cameras! Is the CZJ 180 lens you mentioned, a Sonnar? Bill |

How much does it cost there? And I have very old bellows camera up to 13x18cm. I am sorry I didn't photo much with it, I didn't use it, as other cameras I have, Kiev 6C with additional above mentioned Sonnar and auto-macro rings and and Kiev 80 with two magazines (copy of Hasselblad) both 6x6... Very similar accepting both me and you, isn't it? |

Zvronko, the Sonnar depends on what mount it is as to price. I bought an Exakta mount
CZJ Sonnar 4/135 for $18 plus shipping and was less than $30 total price from a Greek vendor on ebay. Lens is very nice, here's some samples using the Exakta 500 with the lens and expired Kodak 200 film: ![]() ![]() ![]() and here's a pic of the little Exakta 500 with Tessar lens: ![]() I used Sunny 16 for metering and was off a little on a couple of these. lol The Nikon Coolscan V ED only does 35mm, so it is back to getting the Epson V700 eventually.
