O.T./ W.T.B. Adapter ring Meade to Sony

I've been wanting to do this for a while. Yesterday I bought a yard cannon, or better known as a Meade 6" 628 Reflector Newtonian Telescope. It came with the Meade camera adapter to a Cannon slr. The only problem is that I use a Sony Alpha 300, so I need to find an adapter ring to go onto a 1.25" diameter t-mount. I have been debating as to replacing the 628's focuser with a 2" version, but I am wondering how much work is it going to be? Would it be worth doing the conversion?
