The Venus Transit Scramble

Well, I ordered a filter that I think will work but, It's to late to get it in time. There is not a Sun Filter/Film to be found anywhere on the net. Ok last resort. Went down to our local CVS Pharmacy and bought some Black & White film. Amazingly, they still acutely sell and develop that stuff! I walked outside and opened the film to sunlight for a few minutes. Walked back inside and asked the very understanding young lady to please develop the film and said I don't need prints, just the film. I guess she thought I was crazy so I explained what and why I was doing this.

When I got back to the house I cut a small piece of the film and placed it on my 43mm ND filter that inserts into my ZD 300 f2.8 lens and aimed for the sky. The results was better then I expected.

E-5, 300 f2.8 + TC 1.4 f18 1/8000

My window of opportunity for the area I live in (Near Charlotte, NC) will be around 7:00 - 7:30 PM on the 5th. All I can do now is hope for good weather and clear skies.
