I think that cropping out the ones on the right would help this too. I'd wonder about cropping it as square as possible, too. I think that might help to emphasize the pattern created by the scraped paint - which reminds me of notes falling in a scale. I like it.

Thanks much for the valuable comments! However, in my way of reading this scene, I don't agree, for a crop would throw out the balance and the slanted lines are kind of the closing brackets of the sonata...

I like it. When we critique an image it is sometimes helpful if we think about what the photographer had in mind. IMHO it would be difficult to know where to crop the slanted posts due to whatever it is that's between them and the first upright post; so I'm not convinced a crop is needed.
