In case it's news to anyone, one very convenient way to
put various backgrounds behind interesting transparent
objects is to use your PC monitor to display images as a
backlight panel. It's easy to arrange the colors and the
degree of focus behind the foreground subject. For any
liquid, such as displayed by the OP, obviously the clear
panel above the monitor must be very carefully leveled
horizontally, and have some sort of "dam" for its edges.

Here's the actual transparent object without a PC
monitor behind it. I detached the lenticular cover
and propped it up in front of the monitor:
