Ok what I have done Is I took a few shots of steam see "Letting off some steam" so I tried this abstract of it

Certainly is a lot of steam. With regards to putting some colour into it, it depends on how many pictures you have put together. If you have layered it with say 4 layers, you could always add some colour to one of the lower levels say layer #2. Blend layer #3 in with it and overlay #4. Just an idea.

Follow the same steps outlined here Lauren and you'll end up with something like this.

Try some whacky CURVES adjustments (different curves on RED, GREEN and BLUE) and with different blend modes on the adjustment layer.
