Dancing Smoke.... My first attempt at photographing smoke!
While searching for tips on high key photography, I stumbled upon a great site with lots of tips..
Gavtrain - Photography Training. He had a video on photographing smoke.. Gavtrain - Photography Training: Smoke Photography made simple - week 62 I tried his tips.. but for one BIG mistake of not having his "blinders" to prevent light spill on the screen & camera.. (bad news) Well.. I'll do it again.. I used lightroom to pump up the shadows to control the spill I used my 430 EXII plain & then with some of the Rosco gels I got this week. In the last I see the elf but to me the 'lady' looks more like the 'Predator' from that Arnie Schwarznegger film!

These are beautiful - very good work for your first attempt. I can't wait to see more from you. I like the fact that you are creating your colors with gels rather than afterwards in photoshop.

The other thing people do with smoke shots in PS is invert them. Try it for an interesting effect.
