You could consider having the negs printed (which I would do anyway before that's become impossible, or impossibly expensive!), and getting a scanner (for 50 bucks) to scan 'm yourself.

If you plan to store them on CDs or DVDs: DON'T! Burned CDs and DVDs deteriorate and become unreadable after 5 years. CDs and DVDs are suitable only for medium term storage. I write the burn date on them and never use them longer than 1 year. Then I burn new ones and destroy the 'old' CDs or DVDs.
