the IXUS/SD model line never has, and IMO, never will have full PSAM functions, as it is seen by Canon as a true 'Point-and-Shoot', so you are in for a looong wait

As mentioned earlier, the G10 is the most pocketable (cargo-pants ?? ) and capable ('full PSAM') in the Canon line. If not pocketable, you could put it in a small clip-on belt-pack (like a cellphone)... but if that is too big, you could look to the Panasonic/Leica line, they have some pretty decent performers too
